The resort village of Kiten is situated in the southern Bulgarian Black Sea coast, just 56 km south of Bourgas, 5 km of Primorsko and 12 km north of Tsarevo. Many tourists prefer Kiten for its clear sea waters and the beautiful wooded area.
HISTORY
The settlement's history lies deep in ancient times, and the remain of the Urdovisa Castle can be seen just outside the present-day village boundaries. The castle is situated at 35 km from Sozopol, on a peninsula of same name. The name Urdovisa dates back to the Bronze Age in ancient Thrace. It is an old Thracian settlement.
NATURE
Kiten has two sandy beaches covering a total area of 145 000 sq.m. The Northern beach area referred to as the Kiten Atliman includes some beautiful sand dunes. The beach is enclosed by a steep, rocky coastline. The Southern beach has been provisionally divided intro two parts Kiten-South and Kiten-Campsite beach.
The village of Kiten enjoys a mild, sunny, warm and humid climate. The average summer temperature is 27 C.
SURROUNDING AREA
The region surrounding the village of Kiten is comparatively clean in terms of environment. The resort is immediate proximity to the Strandja Nature Park, one of the larges nationwide. Nearby Kiten is the Ropotamo Park, which was pronounced a reserve in 1940.
