Five kilometers south of Ahtopol is Sinemorets, the last populated area before the closed border with Turkey. An off-limits border zone until 1990, Sinemorets is a sleepy village of dirt roads, farm houses and donkeys, and spectacular sea views.
It's also one of the hottest spots for the nouveau riche to build their get-away homes. For those who cherish seclusion, warm weather and natural beauty
this is the place. The entrance to Sinemorets is through the lush Veleka River estuary, a nature reserve known for its water lilies.
NATURE
Five kilometres south of Ahtopol is located the beach of Sinemorets called BUTAMJA which has beautiful and fine sand and clear water. If you go more on south then you’ll see the fames Bulgarian beach called SILASTAR / it is brand new/, it is a reserve and it has wonderful nature. It is one of the favourite places for the guests which have a car.
There are another two beaches – one is on the Veleka River and the other is called LIPITE .The coast on the Veleka River it’s a beautiful combination of river and see. LIPITE beach is a small beach not very quiet place which is ideal for nudes and is located between BUTAMJA and SILASTAR.
SURROUNDING AREA
The Veleka River, one of the most beautiful rivers, which flow into the Black Sea, together with Kamchiya and Ropotamo. The mouth of the river is barred by a strip of sand stretching from one shore to the other, where some holidaymakers prefer to sunbathe and take turns in swimming in the river (which traditionally has much colder water) and the sea.
The village of Kosti, famous for its 'nestinarski' dances (barefoot dances on glowing embers) is situated nearby the river mouth. Further north to the border, holidaymakers can sunbathe at the beautiful beaches of Silistar and Rezovo (the latter though being a rather small one).
